11 ingredients
9 steps
What you need
- 1 small cucumber, peeled
- 1 medium tomato
- 1 small red onion
- 1 green chili, optional
- 15 g (1/2 cup) fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- 1 tbsp mint leaves, chopped
- 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp red chili powder
- 2 pinch black salt, optional
- salt, to taste
- 2 tsp lemon juice, plus extra to taste
Method
Restated from the original video
- 1
Dice the cucumber, tomato and onion into small, even cubes of about 1 cm (1/2 in).
- 2
Seed and finely chop the chili if using.
- 3
Wash the coriander and mint, dry them well and chop them.
- 4
Put the diced vegetables and chili in a mixing bowl.
- 5
Scatter over the cumin, chili powder, black salt and a little salt.
- 6
Add the coriander and mint, then pour in the lemon juice.
- 7
Toss gently until everything is evenly coated.
- 8
Taste and adjust with more salt or lemon juice.
- 9
Serve at once. Salt draws water from the vegetables, so the salad turns soupy if it sits for more than an hour.
