Method
Restated from the original video
- 1
Warm the milk with 40 g of sugar, the vanilla, cinnamon and salt in a small pan, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Do not let it boil.
- 2
Pour the milk into a shallow dish and let it cool until lukewarm.
- 3
Beat the eggs in a second shallow dish.
- 4
Lay the bread in the milk for 20-30 seconds per side, until soaked through but still holding its shape.
- 5
Lift each slice out, let it drip, then coat both sides in the eggs.
- 6
Melt half the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat until it foams.
- 7
Fry half the slices until deep golden, 2-3 min per side.
- 8
Sprinkle the tops with a little of the remaining sugar, flip and cook until it caramelizes, 30-60 seconds. Repeat on the other side.
- 9
Add the rest of the butter for the second batch. Serve hot.
