Method
Restated from the original video
- 1
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and salt it well.
- 2
Cook the spaghetti 1-2 min short of the package time. Scoop out a mug of the cooking water, then drain.
- 3
Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Cook the bacon until the fat has melted out and the edges are browned, 4-5 min.
- 4
Add the onion and cook, stirring, until soft, 3-4 min.
- 5
Add the pepper and cook until just tender, 2 min.
- 6
Add the ketchup and fry over medium-high heat, stirring, until it darkens and thickens and the sharp smell mellows, 1-2 min.
- 7
Add the spaghetti and 3 tbsp of the cooking water. Toss over medium heat until every strand is coated in the sauce, 1-2 min.
- 8
Take off the heat, add the butter and toss until it melts. Season with black pepper and taste for salt.
- 9
Divide between two plates and sprinkle with the parmesan.
