Method
Restated from the original video
- 1
Bring 1 l of water to a boil in a saucepan and stir in the pearls.
- 2
Cook, stirring now and then, until the pearls are translucent with no white core, 15-25 min. Drain and rinse under cold water.
- 3
Meanwhile, put the sugar and 120 ml water in a small pot over low heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then simmer for 5-8 min until the syrup coats a spoon.
- 4
Stir the vanilla into the syrup and take it off the heat.
- 5
Set the block of tofu on a heatproof plate and steam it over simmering water for 8-10 min, until hot all the way through.
- 6
Scoop the tofu into 4 cups in thin, wide layers with a flat spoon, keeping the pieces soft and silky.
- 7
Spoon 2-3 tbsp of the syrup over each cup and add 2 tbsp of the pearls.
- 8
Serve hot, right away.
