Currywurst

Sliced fried sausage doused in a curry-spiced ketchup sauce, dusted with more curry powder and served with fries.

Where it comes from

Usually traced to a postwar Berlin vendor who mixed ketchup with curry powder obtained from British soldiers when spices were scarce, though the exact circumstances are contested and several people have claimed credit.

What cooks argue about

Whether the sausage keeps its skin on or gets peeled before slicing is a real regional split, changing the bite from a snap to soft throughout, and the sauce ranges from quick to slow-simmered.

Nobody has published a currywurst recipe yet. The page stays out of search until one exists, which is the rule for every thin page here.
