- 70 g (1/2 cup) fine cornmeal
- 50 g (1/4 cup) granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt

Method
Restated from the original video
- 1
In a large bowl, whisk the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.
- 2
Stir the vanilla into the milk, then pour it into the dry ingredients in 3 additions, mixing after each.
- 3
Knead for 2-3 min, until you have a smooth, soft dough that does not stick to the bowl. Add a splash of milk if it feels dry.
- 4
Cover and rest the dough for 15 min.
- 5
Divide the dough into 10 pieces, each about the size of a golf ball.
- 6
Roll each piece between your palms into a finger shape about 12 cm (5 in) long, with slightly tapered ends.
- 7
Pour the oil into a deep pot to a depth of about 5 cm (2 in) and heat to 175 °C (350 °F).
- 8
Fry 3-4 dumplings at a time for 6-8 min, turning halfway, until deep golden brown. Keep the oil at 175 °C (350 °F).
- 9
Lift out with a slotted spoon and drain on a tray lined with paper towels.
- 10
Serve warm, alongside spicy savory dishes.
