5 ingredients
5 steps
What you need
- 8 slices rustic country bread, about 1.5 cm (1/2 in) thick
- 1 garlic clove, peeled
- 2 very ripe tomatoes, soft, about 300 g (10 oz) total
- 3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- flaky sea salt, to taste
Method
Restated from the original video
- 1
Toast the bread slices in a toaster, a hot grill pan or under the oven grill until crisp and golden at the edges, 2-3 min per side.
- 2
Rub the garlic clove lightly over one side of each hot slice. The crust grates it into a fine paste.
- 3
Halve the tomatoes crosswise. Rub the cut side over the garlicked side of each slice, squeezing as you go, until the pulp soaks into the bread and only the skin is left in your hand.
- 4
Drizzle each slice with olive oil.
- 5
Sprinkle with salt and serve at once, while the crust is still crisp.
