Parisian Ham and Butter Baguette
3 ingredients
5 steps
What you need
- 1 baguette, fresh, with a crisp crust
- 60 g (4 tbsp) butter, soft, lightly salted if possible
- 150 g (5 oz) cooked ham, thinly sliced, jambon de Paris style
Method
Restated from the original video
- 1
Take the butter out of the fridge 30 min ahead so it is soft enough to spread without tearing the bread.
- 2
Cut the baguette into two pieces about 20 cm (8 in) long. Slice each lengthwise with a serrated knife, leaving one side attached like a hinge.
- 3
Spread the butter thickly from edge to edge on both cut sides. The layer should be clearly visible.
- 4
Fold or ruffle the ham slices over the bottom halves in an even layer, to the ends so every bite has some.
- 5
Close the sandwiches and press down lightly. Eat within the hour, while the crust still crackles.
