Restated from the original video
- 1
Heat the oven to 175 °C (350 °F). Butter a 25 cm (10 in) round cake pan and dust it with flour.
- 2
Whisk the flour and baking powder together in a bowl.
- 3
Beat the butter and granulated sugar with a mixer until pale and creamy, 3-4 min.
- 4
Beat in the eggs singly, mixing until each is absorbed before the next.
- 5
Beat in the brandy, vanilla and orange zest.
- 6
Fold in the flour mixture in 3 additions, alternating with the orange juice, until just combined.
- 7
Pour the batter into the pan and smooth the top. Push the foil-wrapped coin into the batter anywhere you like, then smooth over it.
- 8
Bake until golden and a skewer comes out clean, 45-55 min.
- 9
Cool in the pan for 15 min, then turn out onto a rack and cool completely, about 1 hour.
- 10
Dust the top with powdered sugar. Tell everyone about the coin before slicing.
