Method
Restated from the original video
- 1
Heat the oven to 200 °C (400 °F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- 2
Stir the breadcrumbs into the milk in a large bowl and leave for 5 min until soft.
- 3
Add the beef, egg, Parmesan, garlic, parsley, salt and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.
- 4
Roll the mixture into 16 meatballs, each about 4 cm (1 1/2 in) wide, and set them on the tray.
- 5
Bake until browned and cooked through, 15-18 min. The center should reach 71 °C (160 °F).
- 6
While the meatballs bake, warm the marinara sauce in a wide pan over medium-low heat.
- 7
Add the baked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 10 min.
- 8
Raise the oven to 220 °C (425 °F). Split the rolls lengthwise, leaving one side attached, and set them on a tray.
- 9
Fill each roll with 4 meatballs and spoon over some sauce. Top with the mozzarella.
- 10
Bake until the cheese is melted and bubbling, 5-6 min. Serve with the leftover sauce.
