Restated from the original video
- 1
Whisk the masa harina into the warm water until completely smooth. Set aside.
- 2
Pour the milk into a saucepan and add the cinnamon stick, piloncillo and salt.
- 3
Warm over medium heat, stirring, until the piloncillo has melted, 3-5 min. Fish out the cinnamon stick.
- 4
Whisk the masa mixture again, then pour it into the hot milk in a thin stream, whisking all the time.
- 5
Turn the heat to low. Cook at a bare simmer, whisking often and scraping the bottom, until thick and creamy, 15-20 min.
- 6
Take the pan off the heat and stir in the vanilla.
- 7
Pour into mugs, dust with ground cinnamon and drink hot.
