9 steps
What you need
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 500 g (1 lb) ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- salt and black pepper, to taste
- 300 g (10 oz) green beans, cut into 3 cm pieces; frozen is fine
- 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 120 ml (1/2 cup) milk
- 100 g (1 cup) cheddar, shredded
- 750 g (26 oz) frozen tater tots
Method
Restated from the original video
- 1
Heat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F) and grease a 2.5 l baking dish, about 20 x 30 cm (8 x 12 in).
- 2
Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the beef and onion and cook, breaking up the meat, until it is cooked through with no pink left and the onion is soft, 8-10 min.
- 3
Spoon off the excess fat and season with salt and pepper.
- 4
Spread the beef over the bottom of the dish and scatter the green beans on top.
- 5
Whisk the soup with the milk until smooth and pour it evenly over the beans.
- 6
Sprinkle the cheddar over the sauce.
- 7
Cover the top with the tater tots in a single snug layer, right out to the edges.
- 8
Bake uncovered until the tater tots are golden and crisp and the sauce bubbles at the sides, 40-45 min.
- 9
Let it stand for 5 min before serving.
