- 4 g (1 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp sunflower oil, plus extra for the bowl
- 1 tsp salt, divided between dough and filling
- 400 g (14 oz) salmon fillet, skinless, boneless, cut into 2 cm (3/4 in) cubes
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 50 g (3 1/2 tbsp) butter, divided
- 1/2 bunch dill, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp black pepper, freshly ground

Method
Restated from the original video
- 1
Stir the yeast and sugar into the warm water with 1 tbsp of the flour. Leave for 10-15 min, until foamy.
- 2
Mix the remaining flour with 1/2 tsp of the salt. Add the yeast mixture and oil, then stir into a dough.
- 3
Knead on a floured counter for 8-10 min, until smooth and no longer sticky.
- 4
Put the dough in an oiled bowl, cover and leave in a warm spot for 1-1 1/2 hours, until doubled.
- 5
Melt half the butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook the onion until soft and translucent, 5-6 min. Let it cool.
- 6
Mix the cooled onion with the salmon, dill, pepper and the remaining 1/2 tsp salt.
- 7
Punch the dough down and divide it into 6 equal balls.
- 8
Roll each ball into a round about 14 cm (5 1/2 in) wide. Spoon the filling along the center, leaving 2 cm (3/4 in) of dough bare all around.
- 9
Pinch the two ends together and press the sides up so each pie is a boat shape with the filling showing in the middle. Set them on a lined baking tray.
- 10
Cover and leave to rise for 15 min. Meanwhile, heat the oven to 200 °C (400 °F).
- 11
Brush the dough with the beaten egg and put a small piece of the remaining butter on each filling.
- 12
Bake for 20-25 min, until the dough is deep golden and the salmon is opaque and flakes easily.
- 13
Rest the pies under a clean towel for 5 min. Serve warm with cups of hot broth on the side.
