Israeli Salad
Israeli salad is cucumber and tomato diced small and uniform, tossed with onion, lemon juice, and olive oil, eaten at nearly every meal rather than reserved for one.
Where it comes from
The dice-it-fine format is shared across Levantine salads, and its rise in Israel is often traced to early kibbutz breakfasts, where fresh vegetables were plentiful and cheap while other food stayed rationed.
What cooks argue about
Knife work is the whole argument: some cooks cut the vegetables down to a fine, almost uniform mince by hand, while others treat a small dice as close enough and skip the extra time.
Versions
Nobody has published a israeli salad here yet. When somebody cooks one from a video and publishes it, their version appears in this list, with a link back to the original.
