Sunday Roast

A roasted joint of beef served with roast potatoes, carrots, gravy and Yorkshire pudding, the whole meal timed to come together at midday.

Where it comes from

Tied to a weekly pause from work, with Sunday historically kept free for a long, shared midday meal the rest of the week's schedule didn't allow, built around one large cut feeding a household.

What cooks argue about

Getting Yorkshire pudding to rise properly is the most argued part of the meal: the fat in the tin has to be smoking hot before the batter goes in, or it collapses before it sets.

Nobody has published a sunday roast recipe yet. The page stays out of search until one exists, which is the rule for every thin page here.
