Açaí Bowl

Frozen açaí puree blended thick with banana into a smoothie base, served in a bowl and topped with granola, fruit, and honey.

Where it comes from

Açaí has long been part of everyday Amazonian diets in Brazil, traditionally eaten savory with fish and manioc flour rather than sweet. The sweetened, topped bowl spread through surf towns in Brazil, then Hawaii and California.

What cooks argue about

Cooks argue over how much liquid to add, since too much makes the base soupy and too little jams a blender, and over eating it before the toppings sink and the base turns watery.

Nobody has published a açaí bowl recipe yet. The page stays out of search until one exists, which is the rule for every thin page here.
