Glögg
Red wine warmed with cardamom, cloves, orange peel and often a stronger spirit, served hot with raisins and almonds spooned in.
Where it comes from
A Nordic version of the spiced warm wine found across northern Europe, built around ingredients suited to a cold climate for gatherings during the darkest, coldest months of the year.
What cooks argue about
Temperature matters more than the recipe: the wine has to warm through and steep with the spices without ever reaching a full boil, which drives off the alcohol and turns the flavor flat.
Nobody has published a glögg recipe yet. The page stays out of search until one exists, which is the rule for every thin page here.
